Alpe Adria Contest 2003

Summer is the time
for relaxing. At the beginning of August we enjoy DXing during the Alpe
Adria Contest. As a station far north to the main contest region our main
interest is DXing. On the same weekend there is also a contest in France,
so even more chances to catch any DX. On Saturday I could copy stations
from the atlantic cost (IN96, etc) at my home location. Thought condition
would fine the next day. But before we got QRV we had to do some antenna
work. We changed the coaxial cable of the permanently installed antenna
(4x6ele). After the years we wanted to be sure not to run into problems
with it. You can see the pictures of the crane while we were working below.
On Sunday we were ready in time. Mostly tuning and picking the interesting
stations out of the noise. From time to time we also called CQ but as usually
many Germans returning so the average distance per QSO felt. At temeratures
of 35° C it was the hottest contest we ever did. Conditions were quite
normal, no exciting new stations were heard.
We enjoyed the time
with ham radio and barbeque without any stress...
Now looking forward
to the IARU Region 1 contest in September! See you.
