Marconi Contest 2002
DK Ø TR
in JO4Øql on
144.045MHz
In September's IARU
VHF-Contest we decided not to take part because of a lack of operators,
but during the first weekend of November we were on again. The weather
was really terrible all weekend long compared to last years Marconi contest.
But we were lucky. Rain stopped for most of the time while putting up and
down the antennas! We used the same array of 8 time 6 element homebrew
DJ9BV design yagis. Did a wonderful job again! The conditions seemed to
be quite normal. Activity was rather good. The Aurora didn't meet with
us. Later we were told that there were some signals heard in our region.
Never the less we had some nice highlights via tropo: F6FHP IN94 (970km),
F5RBT/p JN05 (899km), YZ4IZ JN84 (890km), I0WBX/6 JN62 (888km) and SP2FAV
JO94 (766km) as the rare ones from JO40.
After nearly no trouble
with the rigs this year we had a minor problem with the transverters relay,
but it was fixed soon. With 445 QSOs we ended 2002's contest season. Great!
Lets look forward to
next years season. We will be on during the major events again!
